But before you mindless walk on the treadmill for 45 minutes, consider a high incline walk. This workout comes complete with numerous benefits while you’re simply just walking.
On average, people will increase the number of calories burned by 60% when increasing their treadmill incline to 15%. The up-hill exercise will promote an increase in your heart rate, tone your muscles and will provide your body more benefits than an elliptical or stationary bike.
A simple high incline workout could be to
Warm up by walking without an incline for five to 5 minutes.
Walk on the treadmill with a 15% incline for 25 minutes at a pace of 3.5.
Cool down by walking without an incline for 5 minutes.
Studies show that you should multiply your weight in pounds by 2.72 to see how many calories you will burn in an hour of walking on a high incline. For example, if you weigh 150 pounds and walk on an incline for a half hour you would have burned 204 calories!
