The Perfect Antioxidant Breakfast
Acai Bowls have become a recent health craze. Acai is a cross between a grape and a blueberry. Traditionally, it has been used for treatment for diarrhea, parasitic infections, hemorrhages, and ulcers. This fruit contains a high level of antioxidants much like cranberries, blueberries, and strawberries. The properties contained in acai berries may help prevent health problems such as arthritis, inflammation, obesity, erectile dysfunction, neurological diseases, and allergies. Acai berries are low in sugar but contain excellent amounts of iron, calcium, fiber, and vitamin A.
Acai can be found in puree and powder at your local grocery store. Acai bowls can be designed to cater to your personal dietary and taste bud needs. Top with seeds, nuts, added fruit, cocoa bits honey or almond butter. Make the bowl your own!
For the recipe down below you will need:
1/2 cup of frozen Acai puree
toasted coconut flakes
Blend the frozen acai puree, blueberries, banana, and spinach until thoroughly. Spoon into the bowl, then top with coconut flakes, chia seeds, and almonds. Enjoy!!
